Step 1:
Choose your Podcast Hosting Platform

To publish your podcast to all of the major platforms at the same time you need to use a podcast hosting platform. There are range of options some of which are free of charge, however, to get full functionality including unlimited uploads and listeners you will need to get a paid solution.

Some of the main factors you should consider when choosing a podcast hosting platform are as follows:

  •   How long to you plan your individual episodes to be and how many episodes do you plan on releasing in a month. It is important to consider this as some platforms limit how much you can upload?
  •  What analytics/tracking functionality do they offer, good analytics can allow you to learn much more about your listeners and improve your content by analysing listener behaviour?
  • How user-friendly is the platform?

Step 2:

Setup your Podcast Hosting Platform & Upload your First Podcast

  1. Setup your podcast channel page, write out a brief description for your podcast, select what categories it best fits in, and upload your podcast cover art/logo.
  2. Upload your first podcast make sure to fill out the description category and give it a catchy title.
  3. Follow your hosting provider's steps on how to get your podcast listed on all of the major providers.
  4. Check that your podcast is available from these providers, if it isn’t available don’t panic, some of the major platforms will take up to 48 hours to list your podcast.

Step 3:
Promoting your Podcast

Now that you have released your first podcast it is time to promote it! Here are some top tips to get your podcast noticed!

·        Create dedicated social media channels for your podcast and share highlights from your podcast

·        Share your podcast with its intended ideal audience, and consider where is best to connect with this audience, is there a form/social media page or group that is related to your niche? If so that would be the perfect place to share your content!

·        Aim to upload content regularly and let your listeners know when to expect the next episode/release.

Step 4:

Checking your final edited podcast

It is extremely important that you check your podcast before publishing it, here is a list of the main things you should check for:

·        Is the audio clean and free of distortion?

·        Is there anything missing (music, effects, fades etc.)?

·        Is the recording the right length?

It is also worthwhile listening to your recording on a variety of different devices and speaker/headphone setups to ensure that it will sound good regardless of what your listener is playing it back on i.e. car stereo, speaker system, laptop, phone with budget headphones.
